The Big Game Is Back: Jordan Handrich Kicks Things of as the First Loose Cannon This Season The Big Game Is Back: Jordan Handrich Kicks Things of as the First Loose Cannon This Season

The Big Game on Tour is back for Season 2. The first episode of the new season aired on the PokerStars YouTube channel on Saturday, featuring Jordan Handrich in the Loose Cannon seat. 3f5p1a

As we highlighted in the previous article, PokerStars changed things around for Season 2, awarding three Loose Cannon spots instead of two, which means that the Saturday episode was the first of likely fifteen we’ll get to see over the coming weeks.

Jordan is a former lawyer who moved to Las Vegas to take up poker after her legal career came to an unexpected stop due to a series of unfortunate events. Her poker endeavors got off to a good start, though, as she managed to post some impressive results in women’s events, and now, her appearance on The Big Game on Tour could result in a huge boost to both her bankroll and her confidence.

Right from the get-go, Jordan made it pretty clear that she has every intention of making the most out of this opportunity. She got involved in a few early pots with decent (but not ) hands, looking for some favorable runouts.

Over the first 30-odd hands, the deck didn’t quite cooperate, so the Loose Cannon finished her first session down $8,000. It’s not the greatest of starts, but Handrich still has heaps of chips to work with, so she’s nowhere near the danger territory.

One hand that stands out from the first session is the hand Jordan played against Griffin Benger. Both players ended up rivering small flushes, and after Griffin checked, Jordan fired out a bet with her 5-high flush. After giving it some thought, Benger mucked his 8-high flush, sending the pot the Loose Cannon’s way.

Was it a bluff or a mistimed value bet that worked out? You be the judge, but although it wasn’t a massive pot, it was a good one for Handrich’s confidence moving forward.

Apart from Benger and Handrich, the rest of the seats at the table were filled up by the football legend Gerard Pique, PokerStars pro Andre Akkari, Sam Grafton, and none other than Jennifer Tilly.

Interestingly enough, Tilly was the only one showing a profit at the end of the first session, with just over $40,000 to the black. A majority of that profit came from a hand she played against Pique, which featured yet another curious river bet that could have been either a bluff or a value bet — maybe Tilly will tell us at some point.

The bottom line is, the new season of The Big Game on Tour is off to an exciting start, and the action is bound to get crazier as we get deeper into the session. With Jordan showing the willingness to mix it up, she should have no problems extracting some value when cards fall her way.

Will the deck cooperate? We’ll find out on Saturday when the Big Game on Tour returns for the second episode!
